At the end, Frodo becomes seduced by the ring's power, almost cocks the whole thing up, and is saved by Sam. Frodo typically finds himself contemplating his situation, acting in a manner that is practically begging for Sam to provide some inspirational speech that apparently motivates Frodo. He spends the majority of the story falling over on rocky slopes, going white in the face, dribbling, getting captured by orcs, getting wrapped up in webs and being nice to small bald creatures who talk to themselves. Probably the most useless hero in the history of literature, Frodo is a total loser who's always getting his ass in trouble.
